Junior Afan Nyam (Jos, Nigeria) took the first shot of the game for the Bison (1-6-2, 0-5 NEAC), four minutes in, but it was saved by Wells goalie Owen May (one save). The Express went on the attack and capitalized on a Gallaudet foul in the goalie box, that led to Wyatt Buerkle's penalty shot goal past senior goalie Eric Setzer (Middletown, Md.) in the 23rd minute. The Express added a second goal, 11 minutes later, as they took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
The Express (5-5, 2-2 NEAC) wasted no time in the second half, scoring three goals in under five minutes. Buerkle scored his second goal of the game off an assist from Ryan Mitzell at the 55:43 mark. Wells struck again, two minutes and 17 seconds later, when senior Max Cherry (one goal, one assist) scored off an assist from freshman Jack Pilgrim.
