Murray scores twice in loss to Morrisville State

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore Anastasia Murray (Raleigh, N.C.) scored two goals and helped to stake Gallaudet University to a 2-1 lead in the second half but the lead didn't last for the Bison. Morrisville State College scored two goals in the final 25 minutes of play to win the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) women's soccer game, 3-2, here on a frigid Sunday.

Gallaudet (3-14, 1-9 NEAC) trailed quickly in the game when Morrisville's Jillian Hughes scored the first of three in the sixth minute of the game. The lead was short-lived as Murray scored of an assist from senior Katie Benz (Ottawa, Ontario) in the 17th minute to knot the game 1-1. The two teams went into halftime tied at one.

In the second half, Murray scored off a direct kick from senior Megan Calik (Conyers, Ga.) at the 47:29 mark as Gallaudet held a 2-1 advantage. It was Murray's seventh goal of the season, second on the team.

GU held that lead until the 65th minute when Hughes scored her second tally of the game off an assist from Kelly Brennan (two assists). It was Brennan to Hughes, again, at the 78:57 mark, to give the Mustangs the 3-2 lead and eventual win.

This is the third time Gallaudet has lost a game after leading 2-1 this season.
