Game 1: Penn St.-Abington 11, Gallaudet 1
The Bison faced a tough opponent in the Nittany Lions, scoring one run in the bottom of the sixth inning, after the visitors plated 11. Sophomore Genesis Rodriguez (San Antonio, Texas) was on third base when sophomore Alyssa Barlow (Chandler, Ariz.) hit a solid ball to the outfield driving Rodriguez home. With 12 hits including a home run, triple and two doubles, the Nittany Lions took every opportunity they had to make contact at the plate.
Senior Kate Fetzer (Noblesville, Ind.) fought hard in the circle, where she started, faced 20 batters
and allowed five hits, six runs (four earned) and two strikeouts. Sophomore Jordan Hogan (Severn, Md.) came in to relieve Fetzer in the fourth inning and allowed five runs on seven hits.
Game 2: Penn St.-Abington 3, Gallaudet 2
The Bison (9-15, 3-13 NEAC) defense took over the second game, holding the Nittany Lions (17-15, 9-7 NEAC) to only three runs on five hits.
In the bottom of the second inning, Abington had the only run of the game when Fetzer earned a base hit to right field. Senior Raquel Grindstaff (New Market, Md.) was at the plate when Fetzer stole second and third, putting herself in scoring position. Grindstaff hit the ball into right field and Fetzer ran home to tie the game at 1-1.
The score was 3-1 in the bottom of the third inning and two outs when sophomore Kelsey Hudson (Blissfield, Mich.) singled to center field. A few batters later, Hudson put it in drive, scoring from second base, when Fetzer singled to right field. Unfortunately, the Bison weren't able to tie up the game and lost by one, 3-2.
Hogan (3-4) took the loss as she allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits. Barlow entered the game in the fourth inning and faced 13 batters, before the end of the game, where she allowed one run on two hits and one strikeout.
