Cardinals Roll Drew in Impressive 21-Goal Victor

WASHINGTON, D.C. –
Catholic women's lacrosse won its second consecutive Landmark Conference contest after defeating Drew, 22-1, on Saturday afternoon. Eleven different Cardinals scored a goal, 13 recorded a point, and seven found the back of the cage more than once.

Jessie Lee won the opening draw for the Cardinals and the team never looked back. They built a 14-goal lead in the first half and added eight more in the second half to secure the convincing victory. Catholic led by as many as 21 before Drew broke onto the scoreboard with 1:36 left in the contest to cut the deficit by one. Aubrey Welch delivered the Ranger's lone goal, erasing the Cardinals shutout.

Several Cardinals reached impressive milestones throughout the contest. Izzy Fiore was the game's leading scorer, finding the back of the net a season-high four times. Maddie McDevitt recorded a career-high three goals while Lindsay Sawyer added two as both broke into double-digit goal totals for the season with 11 each. Freshman Olivia Daniels (1) and Reagan Laubner (2) recorded their first collegiate goals and Caroline Regan snagged her first point of the season with an assist. Amelia Clair filled the stat sheet in her second appearance with two goals, five ground balls, and three caused turnovers. Tori Wilsey claimed a career-high six draw controls, bringing her season total to 15, while Peyton Wozniak was awarded two assists for her sixth point in two games.

Henley Bredemann added three goals for Catholic and handed out her first collegiate assist. Maddie Rinker rounded out the multi-goal scorers with a pair in the fourth quarter. Madeline Kelly, Wilsey and Lee each notched one goal with Kelly also dishing out two assists and Lee notching three ground balls as well as three caused turnovers. Annie Galarza scooped up four ground balls to slot in between Clair and Lee for the second most on the day.

Both teams switched goalies at the halfway mark of the contest. Paige Shaw got the start for the Rangers and made four saves before making way for Rorrier Sifers to come in and stop eight shots from crossing the goal line. Catholic's Jamie Handwerger picked up the win as the starter, stopping Drew's only shot in the first 30 minutes, before Alexandra Ragano took over and stopped two, one of which was a straight-way free-position attempt.

The Cardinals will remain at home for their next contest on Wednesday, April 2, facing Susquehnna at 6 p.m.
