WSOC: Gallaudet closes out 2021 season with Senior Day

WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University women's soccer team dropped its last game of the 2021 season, 7-0, to Penn College of Technology here Saturday afternoon at Hotchkiss Field. Prior to the start of the United East Conference game, GU recognized its four seniors Emelia Beldon (Frederick, Md.), Sharon Castillo (Dallas, Texas), Mia Marin (Woodland, Calif.) and Krista Kachnik (Lone Star, Texas) before they played the final home match of their careers.

The two teams were scoreless for over 25 minutes before Penn College (6-11, 3-5 United East) got on the scoreboard with two quick unassisted goals.

The Wildcats added a third goal in the 35th minute to take a 3-0 lead into halftime over Gallaudet (2-11, 0-8 United East).

In the second half, Penn College scored two quick goals and added two more en route to the seven-goal win. Penn College had seven different goal scorers in the victory. 

Sophomore goalie Payton DeGraw (Salt Lake City, Utah) made seven saves in the first half while freshman Lilian Nelson (Minneapolis, Minn.) entered the game to start the second half and finished with four saves.

  • Gallaudet got outshot 35-4
  • Freshman Ashley Harlicker (Shenandoah, Texas) led GU with two shots (one on goal)
  • Wildcats took seven corner kicks
  • The Bison went 1-6 during the month of October
  • Gallaudet was shut out 10 times this season
