MXC: GU men's cross country takes seventh at United East championship

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Gallaudet University men's cross country team finished seventh at the 2021 United East Conference championship here Saturday on the Lancaster Bible College campus.

St. Mary's College of Maryland won the United East championship with 33 team points as the Seahawks placed its top five runners in the Top 15 spots. Penn State Harrisburg finished second with 70 points followed by SUNY Morrisville with 80

points to complete the podium. The host Chargers were fourth with 85 points followed by Penn State Berks (102), Penn College (127) and Gallaudet (218) to complete the seven teams that tallied a team score. 

SUNY Morrisville's Peyton Jones won the 8K race with a time of 27 minutes and 40.50 seconds to best the field of 63 runners.

Gallaudet's Jack Kalil (Duxbury, Mass.) was the first across the finish line for the buff and blue in 47th place with a time of 36 minutes and 32 seconds. Sophomore Robert Cici Jr. (New Windsor, N.Y.) finished 50th (37:15.80) followed by sophomore Jordan Kray (Vallejo, Calif.) in 52nd place (40:01.10). Freshman Onome Okaisabor (Kokomo, Ind.) was the next Bison to finish in 53rd place (40:22.80) and freshman John'Ta Price (Phoenix, Ariz.) placed 58th (43:12.80) to round out Gallaudet's team scoring.

  • Freshman Alahzar Bey (San Francisco, Calif.) finished 59th (43:45.80)
  • Freshman Bryan Raffa (Winter Garden, Fla.) placed 61st (46:59.20)
  • Freshman Chris Marin-Palafox (Sloatsburg, N.Y.) took 62nd place (49:55.20)
  • Gallaudet's total team time was 3:17:24.50
  • GU runners averaged 39:28.90
  • The top 14 finishers earned all-conference honors
