WSOC: Bison tripped up by Marymount on the road

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Gallaudet University women's soccer team made the short trip to Long Bridge Park here Wednesday evening to face Marymount (Va.) University in a non-conference game. The Bison fell behind early and surrendered a second goal in the second half as the Saints won, 2-0. 


Gallaudet (0-2) recorded seven shots (three on

goal) in the game, the bulk came in the second half (five shots). The Bison were unable to get the ball past Marymount goalie Grace Needham (three saves). 


Marymount (1-2) scored 18 seconds into the game on Chloe White's first goal of the season. 


The Bison regrouped and hung tough against the Saints for the remainder of the first half even as the Saints tallied 16 shots. Marymount took the 1-0 lead into halftime.


In the second half, the Saints scored their second goal on Sita Nair's first goal of the season off an assist from Marisol Zuniga-Castaneda in the 62nd minute. Nair's shot got past Gallaudet sophomore goalie Payton DeGraw (Salt Lake City, Utah).

  • DeGraw finished the game with 10 saves
  • Marymount outshot Gallaudet, 41-7
  • Freshman Ashley Harlicker (Shenandoah, Texas) led the Bison with four shots (one on goal)
  • The Saints took six corner kicks

UP NEXT
Gallaudet will begin conference play next weekend with a trip to New York to take on Wells College on Saturday, Sept. 18, at 3 p.m.
