With the win, HU (4-10, 1-1 MEAC) snapped the

Hawks' four-match winning streak.

Maryland Eastern Shore's Marina Cruz delivered a kill and tied the contest at 11 apiece midway through the opening set, but HU went on a 6-2 run to create separation and win game one, 25-20.

Both squads were deadlocked at 18 late in game two until Howard finished the set on a 7-1 spurt to take a commanding 2-0 match lead.
