Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo spoke today with the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, and expressed appreciation for Qatar’s solidarity in the face of Iran’s malign regional influence, including the December 31 attack on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. Secretary Pompeo and Emir al-Thani reviewed a range of regional developments and agreed on the need for continued, close engagement to advance peace and security in the region.
