On January 8, Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun met with the Japanese National Security Secretariat (NSS) Secretary General Shigeru Kitamura in Washington, D.C.  Deputy Secretary Biegun and Secretary General Kitamura discussed recent events in the Middle East and ongoing coordination on global security issues.  They also discussed U.S.-Japan coordination on security issues, including North Korea, and reaffirmed the strength of the U.S.-Japan Alliance.
