DC STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION WELCOMES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Washington, D.C – The DC State Board of Education (DCSBOE) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jesse B Rauch as the next Executive of the DCSBOE. According to Laura Slover, President of the DCSBOE, “Mr. Rauch will be a strong addition to our staff, largely due the variety of roles he has played in DC's education system, from elementary education to post-secondary education, in both practice and policy roles.”

Mr. Rauch has worked within the District’s education sector for almost a decade, starting as a 3rd grade teacher at Ruth K. Webb Elementary School in the District of Columbia Public Schools. He then worked with the former DC Board of Education and the Office of the State Superintendent of Education, before moving to the Council of the District of Columbia to handle education issues for the Committee of the Whole. Capping off his involvement in the education continuum of the District, Mr. Rauch worked at the Community College of the District of Columbia.

Mr. Rauch brings valuable community-building and communications experience to the DCSBOE. He currently sits on the board of the 4,500-member non-profit Young Education Professionals-DC, an organization designed to improve network within the education sector. He also founded the “Friends of Screen on the Green” and “District Karaoke,” organizations that allowed him to become an expert in social media and communications technology.

As the Executive Director, Mr. Rauch will help the Board define their public policy agenda and expand the Board's public engagement efforts.

Mr. Rauch can be contacted at jesse.rauch@dc.gov or at 202-741-0884.
