Calling all homeowners! Join us for the following homeowner workshops focused on the residential construction of existing one-family and two-family properties. The purpose of these workshops is to help you prepare for home improvement projects this spring and summer – and learn how to protect your home during these larger projects and small renovations.
This three-part series will be led by DCRA permitting & plan review staff, workshops will be held monthly from April through June 2019. We strongly encourage you to attend all three workshops, either in person or livestream, to take advantage of all of these training offerings!

Be prepared before you buy or start remodeling your home. This workshop will provide an overview of DCRA’s permit application process through the issuance of your building permit. Learn how to use online permitting tools, what permits you will need, how to submit plans to DCRA and permit costs. Additionally, we will cover how to hire design professionals, general contractors and DCRA tips to avoid being scammed or build illegally.
Homeowner Decisions to Make Before You Submit an Application to DCRA Workshop

Before you start, take control of your home remodeling and/or addition project. This workshop covers basic questions you should ask yourself before talking to a design professional and contractor. Experts from DCRA will review basic questions about plumbing, heating and cooling equipment, hot water heaters, insulation, windows, doors, bump up and outs, fire, electrical and structural.
