Miss DC Allyn Rose to receive Women’s Health Advocacy Award
“The 21st Annual Congress on Women’s Health will be held in Washington, D.C. on March 22-24, 2013, and I am receiving the Women’s Health Advocacy Award. The Congress attracts over 1,200 physicians and other healthcare providers from almost every state and more than 20 countries, and I will have the incredible opportunity to share my platform. I was at Miss America when I received the news and I cried in rehearsals. So blessed for all of these amazing opportunities and that my mother’s life continues to impact others.”
-Allyn Rose, Miss DC 2012
Miss District of Columbia 2012 Allyn Rose is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Politics. This eight-for-eight semesters Dean’s List scholar is also a Volleyball All American and a national champion in artistic roller skating.
Other accomplishments have included an internship for Congressman Tom Price, Member of the National Capital Dance and Figure Skating Club, and a member of the University of Maryland Student Senate. This year Allyn had the opportunity to assist in writing a brief that went before the U.S. Supreme Court.
As an active volunteer, she has participated in Operation Care Package, Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge, Delta Gamma’s Service for Sight, Happy Helpers for the Homeless, and has helped organize annual “Beauty is Skin Deep” fundraisers for the Skin Care Foundation.
Currently she is a paralegal for a law firm that protects civil liberties. In addition, she models for the QVC Channel. Perhaps you have seen her featuring WEN hair care products for Chaz Dean or in New York City for Fashion Week.
People might be surprised to learn that she can make balloon animals, performed in a punk rock band and was raised in a two hundred year old historic Colonial home.
Allyn’s platform for the Miss America Organization is the Judy R.O.S.E. Method of Breast Cancer Prevention and her career goal is to obtain her Juris Doctor degree in Constitutional Law and serve her country in public office
