Globetrotters to feature female player for first time in D.C. and Fairfax in 20 years when Mighty Mitchell dribbles to town
Washington, D.C./Fairfax, Va. - Known as innovators of the game of basketball for decades, the world famous Harlem Globetrotters are again introducing something unparalleled in the history of sports and family entertainment, taking kid participation and fun to a whole new level on their 2013 “You Write the Rules” World Tour.
For the first time ever, fans will decide the rules for the game that could affect the final outcome. This could be anything from playing with two basketballs at once, to getting double the points for each basket made.
The new rules will be on display during three games in the D.C. area on March 2-3, 2013, including:
Saturday, March 2 at 1 p.m. – Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.
Saturday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. – Patriot Center at George Mason University
Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m. – Patriot Center at George Mason University
Fans can go online with their kids to www.harlemglobetrotters.com/vote to vote for which ground-breaking rule they want to see implemented in the game. Then, fans can purchase tickets to see the winning
rules live at the game.

Globetrotters’ standout rookie Mighty Mitchell is scheduled to play in the DC-area games. She will become the first female Globetrotter to play in DC and Fairfax in 20 years. She is only the 12th female to play for the team in their 87 year history.
Before the game, take part in a once-in-a-lifetime experience with your family where you get to actually spend time on the court with the Globetrotters one-on-one – shooting, trying out ball tricks, autographs and photos. The unique 30-minute pre-show, “Magic Pass,” will create memories of a lifetime. After virtually every game, Globetrotter stars remain on the court for autographs and photographs with fans.*
