Oceana Finds Vessels Speeding in Areas Designed to Protect Endangered North Atlantic Right Whales Along U.S. Atlantic Coast
New report shows need for government to update vessel speed requirements and expand enforcement
WASHINGTON — Today, Oceana released a new report finding that most vessels are exceeding speed limits in areas designed to protect critically endangered North Atlantic right whales, of which only around 360 remain. Oceana analyzed vessel speeds from 2017 to 2020 in speed zones established by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) along the U.S. Atlantic coast, and found non-compliance was as high as almost 90% in mandatory speed zones, and non-cooperation was as high as almost 85% in voluntary areas.

2021 AAU Junior Olympic Games Selections
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Following evaluation at the 2021 Nexus Championship, presented by Harrow Sports, USA Field Hockey is pleased to announce the U-16 girl athletes who have been selected to play in the 2021 AAU Junior Olympic Games. The U-14 girl selections will be announced at the conclusion of the U-14 Girls Nexus Championship. This year’s event will take place at Houston Sports Park in Houston, Texas from August 2 to 5. These selected athletes will have the opportunity to take part in a great event and participate alongside some of the best athletes in other sports from across the country.
