WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University Athletics Department looks forward to welcoming fans back to campus this fall for the 2021 season for Bison athletics.
The health and safety of our students, staff, fans
and officials remain our highest priority, and having a safe environment at Bison athletic venue this fall will require a team effort together.In accordance with national, District of Columbia and campus COVID-19 protocols, Gallaudet Athletics has adopted the following requirements for all athletic venues for the fall sports season, effective immediately.
- Everyone must follow Gallaudet University’s mask policy (see below) regardless of vaccination status. Current GU Mask Status and campus health information.
- Masks must cover both your nose and mouth.
- We encourage physical distancing when sitting or standing at a Gallaudet athletic venue.
- HEALTH SELF-ASSESSMENT: Gallaudet University requires everyone who comes into the campus to complete a health self-assessment form. At the stadium gate or the field house entrance, you will be asked to show either:
- Your Gallaudet ID or
- Confirmation of your completed self-assessment form (Please complete this form on the day of the event.)
- Or fill out a self-assessment form.
- Please DO NOT COME TO CAMPUS if you have tested positive for COVID-19; have any COVID-19 symptoms or been exposed to COVID-19. If you have tested positive for COVID-19 and have been on Gallaudet’s campus in the past 14 days, you MUST inform us at contact.tracing@gallaudet.edu.
Failure to comply with our Athletic Spectator COVID-19 protocol will result with your removal from the venue and campus.
MASK POLICY
Gallaudet University uses a color code system to communicate with the campus community about the latest mask policy.
Current GU Mask Status and campus health information
A full explanation of the color code system is below:
- Green - Indoors and Outdoors: masks options for vaccinated people; encouraged for unvaccinated people. (Cases: 0 outbreaks and 0 positive cases; and/or vaccination rate: 75% or greater.)
- Yellow - Indoors: masks required for everyone; Outdoors: masks options for vaccinated people; encouraged for unvaccinated. (Cases: 2 outbreaks and/or 4-5 positive cases; and/or vaccination rate: 70% or greater.)
- Red - Indoors and Outdoors: masks required for everyone. (Cases: 3+ outbreaks and/or 6+ positive cases; and/or vaccination rate: <65%)
Gallaudet University requires employees and students to get the COVID-19 vaccine and be fully vaccinated for the start of the 2021-22 school year. GU employees and students take a PCR COVID-19 test weekly and fill out a daily health self-assessment form.
Gallaudet Athletics will continue to monitor conditions closely and adjust our Athletic Spectator COVID-19 protocols as needed to maintain a health and safe environment for all.
To show our appreciation to our dedicated fans, Gallaudet athletics will not be charging admission to its fall sports games for the 2021 season.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation, understanding and patience. Please help us create and maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for Gallaudet student-athletes, coaches, our respective visiting team(s) and officials.
AWAY GAMES
Gallaudet athletic teams will follow and respect the host institutions' COVID-19 protocols and policies, which may be different than ours. We encourage Bison parents and fans to visit the host institution's athletic website to review their policies before making travel arrangements or arriving at their campus.
